Ο Άξελ Σέφλερ γεννήθηκε το 1957 στο Αμβούργο. Σπούδασε ιστορία της τέχνης. Από το 1982 ως το 1985 σπούδασε γραφιστική στο Corsham της Αγγλίας, στο Bath Academy of Art. Από το 1986 ζει στο Λονδίνο και εργάζεται ως εικονογράφος. Ως εικονογράφος, γραφίστας και συγγραφέας βιβλίων εικονογραφημένων έχει δημοσιεύσει δουλειά του σε περιοδικά όπως το ZEIT Magazin, το Eltern κ.ά., καθώς σε αγγλικούς, γαλλικούς και γερμανικούς εκδοτικούς οίκους.

Η Τζούλια Ντόναλντσον έχει γράψει πολλά επιτυχημένα παιδικά βιβλία, όπως το "Room on the broom" και το βραβευμένο "The Gruffalo", που κέρδισε το Βραβείο Smarties και το Βραβείο Blue Peter για το καλυτερο βιβλίο που διαβάζεται δυνατά. Επίσης, έχει γράψει πολλά παιδικά θεατρικά έργα και τραγούδια, και διευθύνει τακτικά εργαστήρια αφήγησης παραμυθιού και θεατρικά εργαστήρια. Ζει στη Γλασκόβη με το σύζυγό της Μάλκολμ και τους τρεις γιούς της.
